U-12 HURLING FINAL 2001

Camross 3-5

Castletown 1-2

In the U 12 A Hurling Final held in O'Moore Park, Portlaoise, Camross were in search of their third title in a row. There were only three scores in the first half as Camross led 1-1 at the interval. In the second half Camross upped the pace and ran out winners on a score of 3-5 to 1-2.

Joe Phelan the Camross captain accepted the cup from Tom Jones, Juvenile Board, Chairman.

 

S.H. 'B' Final. 2001

Harps 0-13

Errill 1-08

In the curtain raiser to the S.H.C Final held at O'Moore Park, Portlaoise, The Harps took on Errill. 13 proved a lucky number for the Harps in their 2nd B' Final. Errill trailed 0-2 to 0-4 at the end of the 1st quarter. Errill played well in the 2nd quarter but at the interval Harps led 0-8 to 0-4.

In the 2nd Half, Errill upped the pace but it was'nt enough as Harps ran out winners.

Final score Harps 0-13, Errill 1-8

The Laois SHC Final 2001

This game took place in O'Moore Park Portlaoise. Champions of 2000 Castletown took on championship newcomers Tinnahinch. James Young opened the scoring with 2 points for Tinnahinch. Declan Conroy continued Tinnahinch's scoring with another point. B. Ferns opened Castletowns scoring with a goal. Late in the half Mark Rooney scored a goal for Tinnahinch and Castletown had points from David Cuddy and D Keenan to leave the sides 1-06 a piece at half-time.

Castletown really controlled the second half and points from Pat Phelan and Paudge Cuddy saw them lead by four points. James Young scored two points for Tinnahinch to keep them in contention but these were the only scores Tinnhinch got in the second half and a late scoring brace of 1-02 by Castletown's 16 Year Old substitute J. Hooban saw Castletown gain their third title in a row on a scoreline of Castletown 2-19 Tinnahinch 1-08. After the match Fionan O'Suillivan accepted the cup on behalf of the Castletown team.
